Patchwork Heart

Patchwork Heart

A Poem by kristen0928

The heart is a complex organ
Purposefully coursing life through my veins
While simultaneously driving me insane

How long does a heart take to recover
A day
A month
A year
Forever?

My heart and my mind
Banter behind my back
Carelessly and continuously misinterpreting

Aching and oh how I yearn for love
To freely dispense from my patchwork heart
To ebb and flow
Freely and carelessly
As it should

But alas
It creeps and crawls
Slides under my walls
Restricting its pent up release
Inspecting its delivery
Possible return to sender

You described affairs of the heart perfectly! The heart is complex and confusing, as you said. It can make us question every thing and feel emotional about everything, and it never lets up. Good job with this, Kristen!

About
I love writing and reading. I have trouble sleeping. I think too much and love too deep. I have too many feelings and ponderings about life, and write therapeutically (as I'm sure most people do) more..
