ELEMENTAL REVOLUTION

ELEMENTAL REVOLUTION

A Poem by kublakhan27

Another wooden child
sacrificed to the dragon box of
seasonal co-existence
Appeasement for offense taken
to the whitest and wettest
Canadian Winter on record
Whitest and wettest
crows the sleet-tentacled wind
in environmental triumph
Sympathy for a clan of
beleaguered windows sidetracks
self-contained woebegone excerpts
such as an acknowledgement
of the mistake of eye-rolling
at the insistence
of the cold-as-hell oxymoron
One lambaste for the mere assumption
and another for the fireplace
that has learned to draft-dodge
saddened insurgences into its source
of mind and mood and visual peace
Alone there is no genuine retort capable
of laminating this elemental revolution
beneath the patinas of ice
already manifesting
on indoors innards on storm doors
like poisoned blood retrieved from a fridge
The fire has snatched and sucked in
its mesmerization
and deposited a changeling
of a snake-eyed lonely gawk
Alone there is no plea of company
to be entered
The coma that's etherized electricity
supplements a necessity of flame
feeding its humanized dragons
expected to be full and forgiving
of having to settle for the force-feed
of an industrial reincarnation

Wow. This is such a complex, innovative poem, I have no idea what to say, and I had to read it two or three times to finally grasp the overall message. I personally like winter, but from your accounts, it sounds more like an arctic apocalypse. Anyways, this is yet another great poem, superbly written and flawlessly intertwined with a complex message. Wonderfully done Steve!

Whitest and wettest... yep, that sums up this winter perfectly, Steve. You'd think that the cold would be invigorating, but when it is unceasing, it is monotonous; So many days without warmth, and the heart becomes chilled indeed...

Brrrr! You keep blowing my mind with every piece that you write. I took over a decade off from writing and 2014 brought writing back into my life. It's writers like you and pieces like this that inspire me to continue. Thank you for sharing!

I feel your pain Steve...its been one of the whitest and wettest winters here as well. One might think that those snow days I sat home from work would have produced something amazing but no the case. Instead my muse has been mia and ive been up and down emotionally. Let's hope spring brings both of us some relief. ;-)

I write my best poetry when I am miserable. This winter has been a very good muse. I see she has slipped into your hearth and stirred up all sorts of fabulous imagery:

You've come a long way baby from that guy who adored this season, some brittle and cold lines here, also some that resonate in my heady resistance. Goes from cold to lukewarm and ends up on fire.

The coma that's etherized electricity
supplements a necessity of flame
feeding its humanized dragons
expected to be full and forgiving

I think you managed to come full circle with this one...need to read this over again to get the full effect Dali, you painted outside the lines again Benji. ;-) xo
