TOPIC: "Great heroes need great sorrows and burdens, or half their greatness goes unnoticed. It's all part of the fairy tale"

Peter S. Beagle, The Last Unicorn

I'm done, I'm tired, I can’t do this. Great heroes need great sorrows and burdens, or half their greatness goes unnoticed. Words have an impact, they play games, they twist the mind and break the self-esteem that has been growing persistently over the years.

Sorrows and burdens do not come in a one size package, it is something different for everyone. The significance, the impact and the way it travels through the mind. Some sorrows are death, some burdens are that of which you feel responsible for.

Some burdens are the weight on your shoulders that you feel, you have to carry in order to become a hero in someone else’s eyes. Depression being a burden and a sorrow.

Some sorrows are how you have changed, how you have been shaped, into a harsh, cruel person or a person with low self-esteem that finds it difficult to lift an opinion because they are always shut down, never wanting to be heard.

There are countless of famous people, with stories, how their life was negatively impacted but did not let that stop them, from gaining great power, becoming a millionaire, owning one of the biggest companies worldwide, turning from rags to riches, becoming a renowned polymath.

showing the people that doubted them, fired them, made fun of them for being different, being someone who didn’t fit into a mold, that they have made it, that they did not let their harsh words, give them a one-way ticket to the grave, but gave other people a way to cope with their burdens and sorrows.

May it be a bunch of Disney movies, a bewitching book series that sold millions worldwide, a technological device that changed the world forever and became a competition for the milieu’s biggest companies,

issuing the Emancipation Proclamation that began the process of freeing American Slaves, starting a TV Show and becoming the world’s first African American Female billionaire, defining the law of gravity or discovering the general theory of relativity

This is how they coped. With the sorrows in their past, and the burdens resting heavily on their shoulders. By creating some sort of heroism, giving hope to someone, that something impossible could be proven possible,

you don’t have to be a damsel in distress being saved by a knight in shining armor to prove that you’re worth saving, or slay dragons and monsters to show that you’re a hero. You possess that heroism, I possess that heroism and every person on earth possesses it,

may you be a child, an elderly or adult, it’s just a  matter of how far you’re willing to stretch your fairy tale to get that power.
