Me?

Me?

A Poem by adanette
"

Written while coming out from under an abusive relationship

"
Today I found a piece or two
of who I used to be

Hidden deep in timelessness
Was a long lost part of me

Laughter sprang unbidden
Pouring forth like unleashed rain

Ringing over bitter soil
And plowing under pain

Can who you are...forget yourself ?
Lose who you're meant to be

Wrapped and trapped in senselessness
Alzheimered spiritually

Or is one slowly morphed and changed
So subtle it's not known

Is what we lose torn off so fast
We don't even know it's gone

Broken parts left behind
I didn't know had fell

Today I gathered back a few
And found I knew them well

I put them in my pocket
Glued my pocket closed with time

Forever now a part of me
'Cause they were always mine...

You can lose your identity when you try to be all things to all people, finding it again once you have found the strength to rise up is a beautiful freedom...

About
I am a quiet person and a complicated thinker. I'd rather take a walk through the woods than to go to the mall. I like to read and I enjoy writing. I have kept journals of my life for the last 20 year.. more..
