Syria

A Poem by leafsailor
"

sad poem about the war in Syria

"

F

The wind swept rain
drums across the roof in waves
the dark night has voices mingled in the wind
lost songs come all the way from Syria

midnight now, fire runs across the surface of me
lightning flashes across my dreams
hollow eyed children gather around me
whisper
they ask me why
you
don't see them?

what can I say
they sway and sing a ring tag song
the earth trembles and staggers
under its load of sorrows

a dark moon rides a thundering sky
wanting only to join the sun again
the rain , dark river of tears
for those children who harvest the fruit of hate

Still I have no answer for them
my bones are hallow ,filled with black blood and oil
fear is my lullaby for these children

I know you will ignore them
as always

feel the cold blue metal
of your beloved guns
take them into the fire with you
when you go

"one voice"

I read this and see a people existing in a haze. This brings to recollection the documentary I watched on how Midwestern children are bombarded daily with propaganda of hate for the west. Again, you have a style that commands the imagination.

a much needed poem David , these people suffer whilst the super powers only view their plight from their own perspective ...
