just what I was told

you can only love what’s unbroken
love with all your life and might
give your heart to him untaken
or till he’s keenly out of sight

but if you find the will to love
to give all, and all that’s true
maybe you’ll find that deep within
in your mind within your heart
your beating, breathing heart
that in there a songbird lives
singing a song of me and you
