Hanging onto Love

Hanging onto Love

A Poem by Black Rose
"

Sometimes we hang onto our love because we're scared that if we let go it will really be over but may be that's for the best.

"
Another heartbreak, another tear
A lie to sooth the wound
Long nights spent awake
For sleep doesn't seem to come around.

Hanging on to memories
The truth too hard to bare
Welcoming another lie
Embracing the warm feeling.

Shot of whiskey for the road
And everything's alright
Ice cream stain upon your shirt
Waiting for the ringtone.

Two naked bodies
In front of your eyes
The sound of a heart shatter
The taste of fresh salty water

Another lie fills the ears
Another simple, meaningless apology
Another shot of whiskey for the road
There goes another heartbreak.
