Wound ready for skin graft

Wound ready for skin graft

A Poem by Linda alexander
"

Writing, loving, hating, shouting, ignoring, living, dreaming, hoping, use any kinds of cells to harvest, wound needs to be healed irespectively, it is frustating

"
Scraped the skin partial or full thickness like tilapia
Soaked fully in brine, made a beautiful mesh work
Cleaned, shaped, irrigated wound with delicacy
Planted the skin at the wound site for harvesting

Closed the donor site and the wound site
Now the waiting game begins
Donor site, no concerns, will heal beautifully
The wound site, it depends every single time

Will the wound heal even after the graft
It is not the skill of plastic surgeon
It is not the amount of graft you put
Simply how much cell, could adhere and multiply

We are in the waiting game, it is so hard
How may cells got harvested
Did the wound get infected
Is it at least a partial sucess, tell me please

Wonderful Linda. Medical, clinical, yet touched with the human emotion of hope. It was pensive reading for me... not only because of the brilliant imagery, but because of the exquisite mechanics as well. I knew half way thru it would be good enough to read again
