Listen To The Glisten

Listen To The Glisten

A Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell
"

White Wing of Winter

"

Listen to the glisten of unwavering night

whose wayward whispers are an open hymn of praise,

sweeter than a smile’s double dose of cheer and light

and breathing softer than a sleeping shepherd lays.

Starry glints are gleaming across pillows of snow

while ancient pines are dreaming, drifting overhead.

Like smiles ever beaming, the flecks forever flow

drifting onward as happy tears of winter shed.

They glisten as I listen on the cusp of spring,

and silence sings across this snowy scene unseen.

It’s the white dove of winter slowly lifting wing

to unveil the earth’s broad breast of emerald green.

Listen to the glisten of winter reverie

whose twilight folds into the hands of morning light,

whose white wings will wander, far flown across the sea

to chase sweet dreams on fingertips forever bright.

Never lived in snow, but your poem brings the idea to life. I fell in love with your title immediately & the rest of your message didn't disappoint. I love both the descriptions (meanings) AND the way you craft & play with words to get the perfect fit of sound & meaning. Alliteration & consonance are great, personification well-done, but more than that, I love brilliant word plays thru-out, such as: "scene unseen"

Wow. Glad I saw this in the feed. While we went from cold wet mud to hot and brown in about 5 seconds, I appreciate the beauty in this piece.

I am quite the fan of alliteration and find this piece of your heart penned to page most wonderfully enlightening and pleasantly entertaining ...

I agree with Jacob's assertion on the alliteration setting the tone in this piece - it is hypnotic when read aloud.

The second line in the third stanza stood out, "snowy scene unseen" - magnificent.

Sincerely,
D

Beautiful imagery. I envy your talent for that. The metaphor of the dove's wings and snow was amazing.

But I still don't like snow. What can I say, I'm a Louisiana boy.

chasing dreams is like experiencing christmas....peaceful endings...the snow glistening like success does.

the alliteration really sets the tone in this one...just rolls off the tongue like gently falling snow.

About
Poetry has been my passion since I was about fifteen years old, and I love the structure of rhyme and meter moreso than just randomly throwing words upon a page without any form whatsoever. Whi.. more..
