Why Are All the Songs on the Radio About You

Why Are All the Songs on the Radio About You

A Poem by ♥ Courtney ♥

I turn the knob on the radio
It betrays me with its words.
I love you, I miss you, I hate you
No matter which way, they're all about
You.
They tell me to be strong
They tell me to be weak
But either way by the end of the song
You're all I can think about.
S**t.
You're all I can ever think about.
I'm finding out just how flexible my back is
As I play this game of limbo with you.
But every girl has her breaking point...
I love you, I miss you, I hate you
No matter which way they're all about
You.
You have this cookie cutter shape
Of some sort of friendship
That I'm supposed to wriggle myself into
While I show these kids a thing or two
About playing pretend.
As I pretend not to crave you.
I love you, I miss you, I hate you
No matter which way, they're all about
You.
These songs that tell me to be strong
And tell me to be weak
They tell our story over and over and over.
In every which way.
Happy endings. Sad endings.
'What could've been?' endings.
They're all about us.
Every song I hear
Every song I sing...
They're all about you

This is so brilliantly instrospective, yet I can relate so well... those songs and sights that awaken memories of the one... dancing in the haunted hallways of the mind and heart, never too far away... Raising my glass to the perfection of your life's dreamed duet.

Can just Imagine you in the kitchen (don't ask me why) looking at the radio with a vague look in your eye, I've found that the radio can be an enemy or ally at times of strife or heartbreak. I love the live "f**k off and die endings" some real venom there lady! Cool poem

great poem I like the cookie cutter shape you try to fit into and the way the songs tell you how to feel

This is absolutely brilliant. My favorite line:
"I'm finding out just how flexible
My back is, as I play this game of limbo
With you."
Excellent imagery here, and throughout the piece! I loved this. xx

Well written poem, heartache's a b***h indeed. Wish we could have memory wipes like computers, would make life a lot easier.

I like this poem. It reminds me of my ex, how every song that came on after we broke up somehow reminded me of her. It says something of a poem that makes us think of these things. I'll have to check out your other stuff.
