To you I give you my heart

Old poem concerning coming of age, and love

In the beginning at a tender age,

my eyes saw someone special.

I fell truly, madly, deeply,

but she shunned my advances.

To you I give you my heart

Then later another came,

quite out of the blue.

It seemed to be everything I wanted,

but who was I fooling.

To you I give you my heart

In a troubled time,

one came and freed me from my pain.

But by a mistake of judgement,

the same result happened again.

To you I give you my heart

Surprisingly when at my wits end,

you came and gave me light.

We shared an intense feeling,

but it was just for one night.

And to you I can only give love, not my heart

And to all the others,

who fell short of the mark.

I don't think there is much left,

so I can give you nothing.
