![]() ChainsA Chapter by allonsy_doctorVampyre: Josh Parahn 1 Hour Earlier
Chains rattled nosily against the hard, stone walls of the hidden cave. They weren't loud or noisy enough, though, to block out the bloody screams of the person they enchained. The other humans that were tearing down the old cemetery had been presumably killed; he had been spared for some particular reason. It was strange to keep him alive, a lonely worker, and not the head of the job, who had been killed in front of everyone. It was a bloody mascrade, and the images were stuck in his mind forever. He cried out as the metal cuffs of the chains bit hungrily into his wrists. It reminded him of the teeth of the ruthless creatures that killed all those people...Suddenly, he became dizzy. All those people...dead. Just the idea of it made him sick. He almost vomitted all over the floor. His stomach flipped to keep him from doing so, and his eyes rolled back in his head in disgust. The worker's head banged back against the stone wall, and the crusted blood flaked off. His heart thrummed noisly, echoing around the chamber. The dungeon. His containment. He cried out and beads of blood fell from his chewed up wrists, and the pain didn't lessen. It never lessened. Even if he got out of here alive, it never would. Not with those terrible, bloody images swirling in the back of his mind. They would haunt him forever, like a ghost who overstayed his welcome. The worker's head popped up when I entered the room. Aaron and Silver stood behind me, watching. I was hungry; starving actually. The familiar burn in my stomach constantly reminded me that I needed blood fast. I ignored the craving sensation and slowly walked closer to the worker. He was shaking, his eyes watching my every step. "Dear Lord," he begged. "Please dont hurt me." he cowared away. I chuckled darkly. I didn't usually enjoy torturing my food, but this was an exception. This man was one of the many now slaugtered humans that tried to tear down our home. This was where we felt not as outsiders, but at regulars. I felt no regret towards what I was about to do. "You wont feel a thing," I whispered through my teeth, a whistling sound following it. Tears sprang from the man's eyes and memories came back to me. Memories of Ceira. My body twinged and I fell back a few steps, suddenly depressed. The worker noticed my change in movements, and so did Silver and Aaron. Aaron stepped forward into the darklight. "What's the matter, JP?" JP was their name for me. Joshua Parahn. I asked the worker, "What's your name." "Ian." I gasped. "Ian, like Ian Malcolm from the Jurassic Park books?" He nodded. My heart, if I still had one, melted. Ian Malcolm had been Ceira's favorite character in the Jurassic Park books when we would read them together. To end my pain of Ceira and Ian, I swiftly went in for the bite. While biting, I whispered, "Welcome to the dark world, brother." And he was reborn. © 2009 allonsy_doctorAuthor's Note
