Nothing Louder Than Silence

Nothing Louder Than Silence

A Poem by Indigo Ribbon

The constant flow of blood pumps through my ears

Almost, amplifying the silence,

The deafening quiet of a thousand silent lives

I can see my thoughts

They echo back in a mindless chaos

Falling in and out upon each other

Twisting, turning, and tumbling

A soundless battlefield

The quiet

Silently lurking away in the corner

As the comforting illusions fall away

The constant reminder

Of what could have been done

Should have been done

So I run

Trying so desperately to escape

What can’t be lost

My heart beats faster

As the silence just grows louder
