The End of the Aisle

The End of the Aisle

A Poem by Indigo Ribbon

Disappointed once again, as

The sun moves slowly

And the flowers wilt

Humming a silent song of loss

I wait

The world a spinning mess

Lovely, frightening, even beautiful

She listens to the sound

Of church bells ringing

A divinity in white

She steals my breath

Leaving me at a loss for words

Silence slips from my lips

Unable to answer

Unable to beg

Smiling as she takes

the hand placed before her

So she walks
as I'm left wishing
it was me
at the end of the aisle

I feel your anguish through these words. Riveting poem. Great job.
