Sweetly Broken

As silence sweetly broken,

Or hesitation in air,

The sacred silver tide,

In buried broken song

Nocturnal, the whisper fair;


Redolent on the shores

Of rivers'--or were they islands'?--

Divine enticers sentient,

Dark delightful lores;


Resplendent off the crest

Of twin reflective waves,

Fragile crystal waters,

That closing toward the quiet haven,

Against the harbor rest;


The estuarine mouth,

Wetted soft, still,

Whispers fade,

As silence sweetly broken.
