Ready to Fly

Ready to Fly

A Poem by Chasity Reynolds

Sometimes life seems so rough,
Dropping me to my knees,
Though the tears never fall,
How weak does that make me?

I want to break from all this hurt,
You'd think after all this time
I would have learned
That life will never be fair.

But don't I deserve some happiness too?
I'm tired of being treated this way
By not only society but all of the world,
I can be the only one to feel like this.

Perhaps it's time to break away,
No, not run,
But I don't want to stay
Here forever.

I have to remember I was given this life
Because I am strong enough,
Brave enough, smart enough,
To live it.

I look,
I listen,
And I learn enough
To get through it all.

Step by step,
and time after time,
I'll grow my wings,
I'm ready to fly.
