Don't Worry Emma

Don't Worry Emma

A Poem by Scarlett Brooke
"

Emma gets lost in the woods.

"

"Hello Mr. Frog, how do you do?

My name is Emma and I haven't a clue

Of which way to go, head left or go right?

I'd like to be home before it falls night."

"Don't worry Emma, I'll hop about.

Go ask Mr. Bird if he'll fly on out.

He can fly far and he can fly high,

He'll find your house from up in the sky."

"Hello Mr. Bird, how do you do?

My name is Emma and I haven't a clue

Of which way to go, head left or go right?

I'd like to be home before it falls night."

"Don't worry Emma, I'll fly about.

Go ask Mrs. Fish if she'll swim on out.

She can swim far and she can swim fast,

She'll find your house as quick as a splash."

"Hello Mrs. Fish, how do you do?

My name is Emma and I haven't a clue

Of which way to go, head left or go right?

I'd like to be home before it falls night."

"Don't worry Emma, I'll swim about.

Go ask Mr. Wolf if he'll use his snout.

He can sniff far and he can sniff well,

He'll find your house just by the smell."

"Hello Mr. Wolf, how do you do?

My name is Emma and I haven't a clue-"

"Turn around Emma, you shouldn't be out.

The woods has dangerous creatures about

I can be mean and I can be nice,

I can gobble you up without thinking twice."

Mr. Wolf narrowed his wicked eyes

He ruminated on some delicious lies

He sized Emma up, And saw a great meal

Better than pork chops, chicken, or veal

"But I'm very lost and I'm all alone

And all that I want is to find my way home.

And my friends are gone, lost too I suppose.

I only have you, well, you and your nose."

"My nose cannot smell what it is you must find

Follow your friends and you'll just fall behind

If you want to go home, you need to get smart.

Turn back around and go to the start."

"Oh Mr. Wolf, how delighted I am.

Retrace my steps, what a great plan!

I'll follow the path that brought me this way,

Soon I'll be home now that you saved the day."

And off Emma went all on her own.

She retraced her steps all the way home
