Conversations With My Father 1

Conversations With My Father 1

A Poem by Lucas Jay

When my father found out I was gay

He looked at my mother and said

“Oh he is not.”

My mother looked at him

Wide-eyed in disbelief

“He’s got a boyfriend.”

His jaw slowly falls

To the hardwood floor

“Ohh.”

This is the last conversation

My sexuality will have

With my father.
