Fish Love

Fish Love

A Poem by Aura Inanna

This is an entry for the KeyWord Story writing contest. No one's entered yet, but I'm hoping I won't be the only one by the time the deadline roles around. ^^; ~Aura

"
Sweetly colored little girl
Opens up a cardboard box
Inside the box sits glass-walled cage
Filled with water, a fish’s place!
The girl so squealed and lowered her head
To get a better look at her fishy friend
But upon inspection it soon was revealed
Dead on arrival, the fish will not heal.

And so the girl cried
her love of fish ripped to shreds
A love once so pure
So lovely and perfect
But every rose has it’s thorns
Her heart’s dead and distorted.

But somewhere in time
Her heart will heal
She’ll grow to a woman
And realize with zeal
Not all fish are dead
The Aquarium’s lighted
A watery heaven
For her and her fish friends.
