Hopefully Immature

Hopefully Immature

A Poem by Undeniable Truth
"

I'm exploring the realm of what some refer to as "maturity"

"
i feel like I'm content
but it feels like i was compelled to be
they say it's what makes you an adult
when your dreams are crushed by reality
and by then you have a choice
of whether or not to accept
that you traded the things that gave you joy
for the things over which you wept.
and when you're finally content with settling
adults will call you mature
because you don't act how you want to
but what the situation "appropriately" calls for
its peculiar that the more you've gone through,
the more mature you seem to be
and maybe that's because, when life does what it does,
its true cruel harshness you come to see.
so we habitually dismiss the hopeful what-ifs
and accept the 9-5s as our future life
we judge those who still dare to dream
because they haven't experienced our strife.
but yet i've decided to make a choice
although the future is not clearly seen
that whether acting like a kid or being an adult,
I will NEVER be content with giving up my dreams.
