Stabilizing Sanity

Stabilizing Sanity

A Poem by Indra's Child

Oil spills against the coastline
Licking the shore like a dog licks its wounds
Coagulated youth learning to stay in line
Don't make waves when you surf dunes

Does it ever make you numb inside?
Jaded like the moment's all that matters,
Does it ever make you feel dumb like,
The only thing you've fought for so long's now in tatters,

And don't you fail to see
      The enemy within
      Seeking nothing more
      But simple bliss

This isn't more than less than helpful
I don't pretend to be a saint, martyr, to tread gospel
I'm just allocating my attendance
My self-worth is mine, independent
