Invisible

i can walk through

a crowded passageway

and no one,

not one single person,

will smile or wave.

i can float around people

and jostle them

all i want

and they won’t notice.

i can talk about people

behind their backs

but no one would

even care

because i’m

talking to no one,

and no one is listening.

i can deliver killing blows silently,

but they have no effect on anyone

because they all

know that i’m

lighter than air,

barely there,

invisible.
