To Jim

To Jim

A Poem by Manda
"

This is a poem I wrote to Jim Risdon, my grandfather who died 10 years ago this October. He was my friend, my hero...this is for you, Papa.

"
To Jim

So valiant a warrior,
Master of the world
You gained their hearts,
And earned love.
Giver of life,
Taker of life,
You took to see
And took to land.
Me, your princess
And your follower.
You call to me in dreams,
Felt your ghost follow me
To a place of remembrance.
You weren’t lost, didn’t leave.
You were stolen.
8:32 p.m., a time to remember,
A time to forget.
I wish I could,
But I just can’t.
So now I always smell you,
Memories of gravy and cologne forever.
To Jim, an anchor through and through.
Now that you are gone,
My ship is lost at sea...

the smell of gravy and cologne...hell girl I wanted to cry for you. I lost my Grandmother at Fifty...and I too remembered the smell of her perfume, the smoke. This is a lovely.... if not a heart breaking tribute...a stunning write my dear.
