For A Moment

For A Moment

A Poem by Marie Owens
"

The world pauses for just a moment

"

It is quiet,

I hear nothing as I glide.

I am a mermaid, a frog,

A beautiful water creature.

Above me is a watery sun,

Shining upon the water's surface.

Below me is a sea of blue,

As I reluctantly come up for air.

Oxygen fills my lungs

As the cold air slaps my face.

I lean onto my back,

Floating at the surface.

A sigh escapes my lips

As I stare up at the sky.

Water's mirror image,

Perfect blue.

For the first time,

Everything makes sense.

As the silence fills my water-logged ears,

I understand.

I finally understand what it means

To be transcendental.

The world is beautiful,

Just for a moment.

Only for that moment,

Everything makes sense again.

You have captured in a lovely way what is sensed when I enter into the quiet. Beautiful images.
