And They All Go

And They All Go

A Poem by The Musings of Mary H.

And they all go someday
I have figured out this simple, modest truth
Perhaps I was badly informed or
Standing on a pedestal of denial
I am not without forethought
Their faces will always flash in my mind
Pictures of younger years slipping through
My insensitive, stumbled fingers
Rivers dropping down my face
Blessing pillows with holy water
Feeling strangely, they will all go someday
Cards, a dirge, epitaphs and opinions
A catechism, garments of mirth
Endless plates of once warm chicken
Exchanges of meaningless words
All that is illicit about death
Nooses, pistols, disease, pestilence,
Car accidents, ignorance, old age
Wondering which way I will go someday.

Wow, this is thought provoking and so true, so I guess it is best not to take the material world so serious, but instead work on our spiritual world and try and save our souls from lasting damnation. Nice write Mary.
