Street Art

Street Art

A Poem by martinos74

Street Art, taking over the City,
Colour up the grime, and make it look pretty,
Street Art, a political displeasure,
One man's waste, is another man's treasure.

Street Art, the heartbeat of the Borough,
Space Invaders, Crazy Monsters, rub shoulders with each other,
Street Art, a message to the elite,
Posted by the artists, who paint these hallowed streets.

Street Art, show me colour, show me size,
Take me down dark alley and hit me with surprise,
Street Art, creativity from the underclasses,
Simple image and verse, undiscovered by the masses.

Street Art, you make me feel alive,
A living breathing canvas, growing in the night,
Street Art,  see you one day, not the other,
Hiding in the shadows, like a passion feeding lover.

Street Art, catch me if you can,
Clandestine by nature, moving round and round,
Street Art, flirting with the law,
I'm in my workman's jacket, painting pictures on your door.

Street Art, judge me bad or good,
Check the man with the can, spray painted tan, and the artist under the hood,
Street Art, I surround you,

Check the lamppost, check the walls, check the pavement, check the doors,
Check the railings, check the boardings, check the advertising hoardings,
Check above you, check below, check behind you, check around,
Check the rooftops, check underground,
Street Art, I astound you.
