A French Student

A French Student

A Poem by Benjamin Seymour

This has already begun

Five lines scribbled

Five lines crossed out

Descriptions just fade into qualifications

Forever casting judgement

Always setting that mark of perfection

Further and further and further from me

A glance becomes a look becomes a stare

Trying to ascertain

Just what I see before me

Describing how that contented laugh

Gently fades to furrowed brow

Seems to me insignificant

I’ve barely scratched the surface

this, this delves into depths that i can relate to, gentle expressions, the bold text really helps the reader see what the protagonist is seeing, as if we couldnt before, and i love the contened laugh bit...the ending makes an impact, like you cant see what i see just by looking, but im sure its something deeper. the title makes the readers set the scene a bit better...i love french class...
