![]() Everybody LiesA Poem by Benjamin Seymour
There’s a hole in my wallet Where your face should be It seems kind of relevant to keep it like that Since you left me Lost dreams amidst all the screams Of a tranquil summers day Feeling fine when it’s just about time For all the bars to close for the day I know that everybody lies But it doesn't have to be all the time Thinking of you thinking of me thinking of you Is the only thing that keeps me sane Forgetting about all the memories Is more than I could take I needed you and I told you so You just brushed me away It seems slightly relevant That you’re not here again today I know that everybody lies But it doesn't have to be all the time Whether or not it’s the same as before I really couldn’t say Been here so long I think I’m starting to rot Maybe one day I’ll have rotted away There is a shaft of light, out in the distance It’s probably an oncoming train Retrospective insolence Is about my only claim to fame I know that everybody lies But it doesn’t need to be all the time. © 2011 Benjamin SeymourReviews
