"Circles"

"Circles"

A Poem by mattbandstra

The lines wrap around our silhouettes
Reaching out and trying to escape
The world’s a prison and skin is a cage
I’m only visiting, I’ll be on my way soon

We’re running in circles, I’ve been here before
We were meant for so much more

I’d like to dedicate this to air
As it enters my lungs and moves my limbs
As I spit out words and watch them fall into place
All blurring into one

Because everyday’s a boring dance
Our limbs are tired, our feet are sore
We’re spinning in circles, lost and dizzy
The music plays as another day disappears
And everyday’s a missing puzzle piece
The sun goes down and they fall into place
Because nothing here happens amiss
We were meant for this
