ice

ice

A Poem by Matt Later
"

a cold sunrise

"
crisply quiet,
snow suffocates the soil.
in the dark,
small noises seem louder,
and the quiet does too.
unmoving,
only a tremble of breath
disturbs the air.

when orange cracks
along the top of the ridge,
the black sky
becomes a watercolor sea,
and you find that daylight
is colder.
the sun never reaches your bones
but dances on the ice.

A cold sunrise, painted with a serene beauty only winter could cast upon the earth. Wonderful descriptive lines, Matt! I am proud to be the first to review...of what is deserving of more!
