The Sound of Silence

The Sound of Silence

A Poem by Moyo
"

The desperation of waiting for his true love to return.

"

Whenever the memories come back,

my universe falls apart.

Why make the effort to smile,

if I feel that you’re not here?

Why keep on living, if you’re so far away?

I feel exhausted and a new day is about to begin,

a new day in silence.

The one that passed,

I spent the passing minutes in dark solitude.

This loneliness feeds off the silence of your mouth,

that mouth that used to smile when it pronounced my name,

that name that you gave me saying, “Yes, my love.”

That very same love convicts me to this unmerited condemnation.

But even if one thousand more silent days shall pass,

I know that you will speak to me soon.

My heart has been feeding off that lingering piece of hope;

barely managing to stay alive.

Because I know that in that sound of silence

you’ll hear the whisper of my plea and the cry of my call,

the call of my soul asking for you to liberate me.

I want to keep on smiling

even though the agony is still here.

I want to keep on living,

for only you are my fortress and my shield.

You are all that I have when I feel that you’re not here.

You are my only company in this dark and miserable solitude.

Oh this was really sad.. so sad it's hard to read it..with so much agony running through it. With all your talent.. it's a shame to be waiting an eternity for one who may not show up.. I may be wrong though. You deem yourself doomed to unmerited condemnation.. to allow such a feeling is terrible waste when so much life is around. I loved the depth of this for it's creativity.. the feelings of condemnation are very deep .. I really hope you find love.. shame if you didn't. Great outpouring and the sadness feels very genuine flowing through.. great job!

It is very heartfelt. Waiting for the one you love tends to be difficult, patience can evaporate. It seems to tug at your heart and mind, making sadness. This poem is full of sadness yet is hopeful. Great job!

It's a heartfelt free verse. :D Beautiful in massive proportions.

In content, this made me think silence is equated to loneliness. The poem as a whole is both sad and hopeful. With this, I found it very engaging.

Great write!
