Selfish Love

Selfish Love

A Poem by mcceewrites

My hands are soiled.
But at least your heart is spoiled.
Your hands, spotless.
Honey, you're royal.

I finally patched up those holes in my walls.
Although both of us contributed to their destruction,
I just went ahead and did it all.
But at least your home is built up.
Spared, safe.
Honey, you're an eight ball.

I put ice on my bruises.
Wrapped my bleeding fingers in bandages.
Grabbed some crutches when I went out today.
Since I know better than to lean on you for s**t.

But you're happy, right?
You're not bleeding?
Not broken?
Nothing is wrong?
You've a perfect bill of health?
Yeah, that's what I thought.

The only reason that you're happy, and I'm not is because you only truly love yourself.
