Usherette

Usherette

A Poem by Gerald Parker

She directs us to our seats,

pointing with the wing of a swan,

fingers trailing like feathers,

Margot at the movies,

hair tight in a bun,

feet in first position,

perfecting her posture

after closing the doors,

making ends meet

between ballets.

She’d love to see the film,

she’s heard so much about it,

a demure smile

when we leave,

her slender neck inclining

as she dies.

This is a wonderful word portrait. I was completely immersed in her dream. Nureyev would have liked to meet her. Smashed it with this one, mate. P

Many thanks, Pete.
There are in life, many such 'usherettes.' Love the portrayal, it's pitch perfect and I'm pleased to have found this. T

Thanks, T.
Going largely unnoticed, only there to serve the whim. No-one every sees her dreams, just the all embracing silver screen.

Wow! Beccy.
