COMMISSIONERS OF GRIEVE

COMMISSIONERS OF GRIEVE

A Poem by Mercsa
"

How politicians deceive the masses

"
On that day,
They come out with their party flags
Giving out pregnant promises
Which they cannot fullfill
Pouring out sweet words like honey
Pleading like beggars on the street
And humbling themselves like a shepherd
Begging for the thumbs of the people
And wailing like a widow.
But when their time is due, they deliver not a healthy child,
But a dying baby
They think not about the people but themselves
Roads are untarred,
And gutters are for water
Diseases as a result,
But no hospital as a reward
Ignoring the plights of the people,
And enjoying their lives as they want.
Lack of employment in the country,
But they can pay the youths to fight their political wars.
Tearing apart families, and causing havoc in the country.

strong use of similes in this piece...and the statement is heard, understood and this poet agrees totally.
They play their games and we suffer. It's politics in its worst costume.
I really like this piece a lot...i read the title as "Commissioners of Grief"
but yes, the people are ignored while politicians have their own agendas.

Your poem here wonderfully captures the hypocrisy of politicians.
'On that day they come out with their party flags, giving out pregnant promises which they cannot fulfill, pouring out sweet words like honey.'

Well done
