The Twins

The Twins

A Poem by mhylands

Lost to time as it passes
This conflict of the twins
Lustful desecration and secret desire
I stand before the knowing Mother

Set on keeping truths hidden
I feel those piercing eyes
Silently judging the value of my soul
That stare revealing all I have guarded

I never asked for this
Yet, I embrace my sins
In these times of change
I revel in this bliss

Seek not a chance of forgiveness
I know what I have done
There are no regrets
There is no going back

Should this too come to pass
The memory will forever remain
Credence to my own worth
As I pass through the gates

Perpetuating this overindulgence
Tempting the fires of consequence
I crave for such dominance
To overcome the absence

Ever searching for that warmth
As my heart is so cold
I fuel the fires in hopes
To reignite the desire to overcome
