The Cries of the Lady Justice

The Cries of the Lady Justice

A Poem by michaela

The cry of Justice resounds
But we refuse to hear,
Too busy to think of the pains
Of our brothers and sisters
Fighting the battles of life
In a land apart.

She carries a scale,
One side laden in jewels and luxuries
The other empty, bereft of even necessities.
And she cries out
Though her words fall on the ears of the deaf.

The plight of her people makes her weak
She finds it difficult to walk due to her imbalanced scale.
“Help!” she cries out again.
But the disembodied voice
Calling for help for a foreign world
Receives no assistance.

She refuses to be silent.
“Listen to me, for the sake of your brothers”
She whispers to all, until she finds one to hear her words.

At last her pain-strangled voice is heard
And she holds man’s consciousness in her hands
Pushing her thoughts into the open mind.

In this land of plenty, we have much
While another facet of this world
Lacks even the smallest comfort
That we take for granted.

Tears stain the face of the Goddess Justice
“Please help my people,” she cries
“Because you are the only one who has listened.”

Will you?
