A Poem by Michelle May
"

There's some things you can't ignore, it's time to explore.

"

Where’s my present taking me? That’s a good question to ask.

Stuck in a world where nothing else matters but cash.

Tired of trying to keep up it when all my mind and soul want to do is crash.

Everything will be okay, that’s what they all say.

They don’t know your struggles; they don’t remember your old days.

Old times when all you had in your pocket was dime, while others were sippin on fine wine.

Constantly trying to learn more; I heard you achieve better when you stay informed.

Times when I thought about walking out the door, leaving everything behind so no one can know about me for sure.

Thinking running from my problems was the solution for the hole, I thought it was something could ignore.

Little did I know doing that smacked me some more.

It was like a slap in the face from my mind saying, “Wake up, you’re such a bore. I need to be vibrant and alive; don’t make me make you snore.”

I’m sorry mind, I know good emotions are what I need to restore.

Just give me some time, there are things I need to do before.

Like handling some problems that were uncalled for.

I think I just need someone to adore and have something real to fall for.

Or maybe I just need to hit my homeland real quick, Ecuador.

Tired of the sleepless nights, my eyes sore.

Equality and everything that can’t speak is what I speak for.

I think that’s what I was sent for.

Slowly realizing life is worth so much more.

Slowly finding my way up to top, it’s my time to explore.

Hit so high, you’ll know when you see me at the door.

I’ll be pointing at the biggest magazines and say that’s something I wore before.

Wearing the freshest clothes at the clothing store, thriving and hungry getting ready for way more.
