To Brown Eyes

To Brown Eyes

A Poem by southernguy

If beauty could ever bear a name

It would be yours.

No woman in my mind is so fair,

Your tress is brown with a shade of innocence,

While your eyes brown a glow.

I have never seen lips so pure,

Nor a body so tender to hold.

The birds sing songs of peace,

But your voice beckons a thousand angels at your call.

You see me with your eyes

But through mine to my soul.

I can only dream of you, brown eyes

For you are beyond my reach

So tonight I will lay my head upon my pillow

And your name I will speak.

Though you may not hear it

And you may never know

It will be your love I will pray

That the gods will let me know.
