A Silent Walk

A Silent Walk

A Poem by southernguy

Written after a walk through my church's graveyard

I walked among the saints today

Both the living and the dead

Some young some old

but all come to this hill to be fed.

I saw a mother and father who had lost

their child

Husbands and wives who lost one another's

smiles

There were cries in the hearts

No man could hear

Stories of lost loves,

Pains and fears

I could only think that their comfort

could have been

In their Sovereign God who ordained

the beginning and the end

I walked among the saints today

both the living and the dead

some young some old

but all come to this hill to be fed.

Touching a chord - I like where you took me, to think of both the living and the dead. The repetition in your four beginning and ending lines holds power, makes me feel the endless rythm of life and death. It all fits together well, nice piece.
