A Poem by mikl paul

morning. half dreams.

mikl paul

----

you woke me      with your mouth

this morning,    and the moon is

ever full     and            there is a poem

I pursue through my deepest heart,

        lightly touching       all    it

has touched and        while  the  names

are written elsewhere    I dream of

bathtubs filling with sunlight,     and

    the oath of tangled hair

tangled in hair         and breath.

she

said it is about the way I love you

and it is about time.               when

we found that summer had thinned

our laughter,      fast now,     find the

thing     -let the strength be fragile-

it must be nearby, -but for the taking?-

never,    -it must be nearby-     it is

about the way I love you, we said,

and isn’t it about time        for

this      never,         and if we are

     lovers     (they all knew)

if we are                 new,

what will the ghosts cry their way

here to say?      it is about the way

we love you,      and it’s about new

and it’s about the time     upstairs,

just hands,      drunk skin,   quiet quiet

     we may wake      us           and

isn’t (it about time?)    it new     the

way you taste    in summer thinning

blood into wine into my open asking

mouth      and     I wish my words

wouldn’t sound so crowded,      I write

beautiful things, in a terrified voice,

but again, we upstairs, only hands, and

my mouth, you said,    not yet

we may wake          us.

This is how I've always imagined poets from Cali would write, pretty and lyrical, I like the spaces in the presentation Mikl!
