eclipse

eclipse

A Poem by hanzabonanza

I watched your lips move

the opening and closing

of a chasm

that swallowed me whole

yesterday

those same lips

danced across skin

and plucked smiles

from thin air

unable to listen

I focused on the sharp

stinging green of your eyes

brighter than ever before

so far away from

the jet black desire

that had once

shone there

and the tightening

noose of fear

seeing the pearl necklace

on the bedside table

like me

it waited cold, hard, alone

I fumbled clumsily

to make you wear it

afraid to touch you

should you step

further away

into darkness

finally running out

of words

to heal the gaping

wound in your heart

the click of the door

having the last word

my tears washed

none of the hurt away
