Night Drives

Night Drives

A Poem by MissRed
"

I actually used to do this... I have no idea why. I guess because there was no other way to deal with the endless thoughts, worries, and just life in general.

"

Around and around the loop,
wasting gas, time and sleep.
The music pounds into my soul and
back around I go.
Night drives.
My imagination is alive, my body wired
and my heart aching for a destination.
Stopping for a drink would require
my foot to touch the brake,
and I just can't do that.
Something drives me to go on and on.
The sun will come up soon, and
it will all end just as it begin.
I'll wonder why I drive when others sleep,
why I let my mind get the best of me.
As the sun sets, off I go again.
Around and around.
