A Poem by scarlynn

Never meant to go this far,
never meant to stop time for so long,
it just seemed benign to reach out,
when you're in another city with him.

But recognize this truth-
you were just a girl with drugs,
and I was your apostle,
God forbid you find your Jesus.

I tried so hard,
just to be there,
just to beware
watching cops out the keyholes.

We got tattoos together,
why don't you remember
the little messages and threads
the way I remember so relentlessly?

You haunt the part of my heart that learned to love myself for who I am.
