Narcissus Flower

Narcissus Flower

A Poem by scarlynn
"

For my ex-best friend "The narcissist lives within a dizzying insanity of needing to be recognized as the best, without actually being the best at anything." RUN!!!!

"
Solitaire,
drug fare,
blank stare,
so rare.

No one's ever seen a girl like you.

My consequences
for your actions-
my life,
your terms.

I threw your ring in the trash in the cinema bathroom stall.

Failed succubus,
failed Samwise,
failed student,
successful sneak.

I knew you'd cheat on your fiancé.

NEXT!
Disposable people,
deniable action,
Life's Most Vulnerable Victim.

"I'm not sorry, I'm learning."

I would ask
for my time back,
but none of this
comes without a price.

As life goes on, experiences become a suit of armour. Each upset becomes an example of 'how to cope next time' and - that way, is ready and waiting to be more than a best friend. Fine writing with little or no drama but, the sadness shows. Hopefully it has or will fade as time passes.

Nothing in life comes without a price. Seems there will always be someone who lets us down. Nicely worded

When outside fails us, it could be best to return inward.
