Death by Poetry

Death by Poetry

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney
"

Honesty is what prevents mistakes, not after it’s done… then it’s just too late.

"

She loved the sound of reading poetry.

How the words rolled off her tongue.

She claimed the words, embellished her soul.

They could make her laugh and feel so young.

So I choose to plea my case that day.

The only way, I thought would do.

A poem begging for her forgiveness,

for all I had put her through

I confessed of years with lovers,

lies that seemed to never end.

I told her all that I'd ever did.

Even confessed about her friend.

I thought that this would purge me,

and regain what we had lost.

I never should have told her,

never thought about the cost.

Only thought about my guilt inside.

Never thought,

my poem would be her last.

Only thought she was just angry.

Oh,

but the pills they worked so fast.

The pain is more than I can bear.

Soon, I’ll join her were she’d be.

Sometimes it’s best you dare not share.

For it just may be… death by poetry!

Author's Note

Kimberly "Melody" Carney
Never do what you'll regret, live true to who you are and love true for who they are... Good, bad or indifferent. What is done is done, forgive yourself and move forward with grace, honor and sincerity. Honesty is what prevents mistakes, not after it’s done… then it’s just too late.
Each part of life is powerful, some focus on the good only, some focus on the bad only...a perfect life is when we accept each for its powerful potential and find balance and respect for each.

Good poem. Very vivid and interesting. I like the length too as sometimes poems can go on too long...I know mine can. The twist at the end was good even though sad. Nice job.

Thank you,
Beautiful, dear... life has so many sides... you describe that very well.
I can talk to you in private about this, I have here with a person so related...
Not able to reach anymore, I feel your words, always. Wonderful piece.
