Lost Among the RuinsA Poem by Michael StevensHow I felt upon first waking from a comaLost among the ruins of all my
hopes and dreams. I try to find remembrances, but
nothing's looks right to me. All familiarity gone, just a
stranger in a strange land, nothing I recognize, nothing I know
first-hand.
Everything seems different, nothing
looks the same, as I stare with haunted eyes, it's
a struggle to stay sane. Too much change, too fast, has left
me reeling, as I try to deal with all the
unfamiliar feelings.
No longer sure of where I'm headed,
or which direction to go. No longer sure which way is up, or
of the things I used to know. The world seems full of leering monsters
out to get me. Someone help me understand all the
changes that I see.
