Game Day on the News!A Poem by Michael StevensOh, joy!
On and on, it seemingly has a life
of it's own. I turn on the T.V. and let out a
groan,
for now it seems to last around the clock. I'm talking of course about political speculation
talk,
and talk, and talk some more about
absolutely nothing. Thrashing out what-ifs,
endlessly--try talking about something,
anything else, like, I don't know,
the other news of the day? I guess wanting to launch rocks at
the T.V. is the price we must pay?
When did the news morph into a sporting
event, with analysts and 'experts' causing
resentment to ferment,
and bringing up things that were
never even there? Watching common sense disappear, by
the rocket's red blare.
Politicians need jerseys so we can
tell who they're playing for, so we can root for our team to run
up the score.
Go, team! While you're winning, we
the people are not, watching politicians act like children, takes
more fortitude than I've got!
