The Dream

The Dream

A Poem by MoE

Each night when I close my eyes,
I wake up in my dream.

I lay in a glorious bed
Surrounded in white satin.
My head gently rested on a man's arm.
His fingers intertwined in my hair.
I take a deep breath
the air smelling of Roses & Jasmine.
I snuggle deeper under the covers.
Bliss Fills my body

I close my eyes for a moment
to take it all in.
I kiss tips of each of his fingers.
I smile
knowing it's Him.
I turn over
to see the most splendid man sleeping next to me.
Long face,
Ivory skin,
hair the color of rich chocolate.
Gently,
 careful not to wake him,
I slowly slide my fingertips down his jaw line.
Starting by his ear
heading down
halting at his chin
I touch his bottom lip
gliding my thumb over it
Taking in the beauty of his soft pink lips.
What  would they feel like?
Do they feel  as soft as they look?
I wondered.

His lips take the shape of a smile.
I blush a bit as my gaze travels to his eyes.
Eyes as blue as the sea after a storm
Surrounded by long, thick eyelashes.
He takes my hand to kiss the palm.
A kiss full of meaning.
A Promise.

He pulls me close;
Knowing I need to feel safe.
Knowing he needs to show me I'll always be safe with him.

 He takes my hand,
as our fingers intertwine,
I thank God for him.
My Best Friend
My Partner
My Husband.

My eyes drifts closed
As I awake in my room.
Hot tears rolling down my face
My body trembling
'What If's' filling my mind

I bow my head to pray.
"Lord, you have answered my prayers
You blessed me once again
I know I don't deserve it
yet, you still give it to me
I just don't know If I can do it.
fall in love again?
to me it seems impossible..."

Images from my dream flood into my head.
I shake them away.

"...What of he breaks me?
Humans can't love like you.
They can't insure that they will love someone forever
Love with the entirety of their being
We try but we fail..."

"...You give me what I asked for
exactly what I asked for.
Yet, I argue with you.
I push him away
but it makes me want him more..."

"...You showed me him years before I met him
In my dreams
he was older:
his hair was longer
a beard that reached to mid chest
he was just all around scruffy.
Yet, when I met him,
I knew who he was.
It took me a moment why he looked so familiar
but I did realize who he was.
And to think I still doubt you.
Thank you for everything.
Amen."

I lift my head.
Alone in my room,
darkness surrounding me,
but I don't feel alone.
I smile.
Closing my eyes once again,
I hope to continue my dream.
To go back to Him.
