A Heart felt Wanderlust

A Heart felt Wanderlust

A Poem by Rachika Evelyn Fauz

it has been said and done,
long ago did she realise the value,
the value of what is to be done.

swept up in fantasies she sat
under the lime tree, ants her best mate.

under stars she did wander,
wanderlust of centuries ago,
scars she’s buried deep inside.

a thought of ending,
but a light shone inside her,
telling her to never give up,
scars she has given herself,
wrists and feet tied. a barely
sung song of ages ago.

and then she did collide.
collide with a listlessness
of margarine covered appetite.

a buttery feeling of a sort,
floating in the dungeons of her own.
a prince she thought she rescued.
but trapped by his charm was she.

a need, a desire, a wanting so created,
holes in her she had created.

holes to be filled by her own.

and then she ran into the starry night
with bare feet and body, covering
herself with a hope of finding
Shelter.

Shelter in his new age,
it has been said and done, a song sung.

and now she repeats it with numb lips
and a heart felt longing of wanderlust.
