Old Friend

Old Friend

Hello old friend,

Where did you go?

When you were gone

I missed you so.

Watched from afar,

As you grew,

How my heart ached,

And I wish that  you knew.

I will be,

All you allow,

Not too close,

Just for now.

I understand,

How you have needs,

So I stand back,

Watch through the weeds.

But when you’re ready,

I will come,

Stand by your side,

And be your chum.

Time passes slowly,

Until that day,

I watch and wait,

And oh how I pray,

With baited breath,

The day will arrive

Of this I’m sure,

We shall survive.

Broken heart,

Twist of fate,

I’ll be here,

Don’t be late.
